Val was brought up with dogs and has owned a variety of different breeds. She has many years of experience training, showing and working with a variety of dogs. She qualified in 2005 taking the Club forward with new methods of training which are sympathetic to dogs’ natural learning abilities. Val is always striving to improve the services offered by the club. At present she owns a Labrador, Kara who is a ‘Meet and Greet’ Dog for Canine Partners, a Charity which trains dogs to work with people with disabilities and an English Setter, Louie rescued from Spain. Both Kara and Louie are registered Therapets with Canine Concern Scotland Trust and Val is a Therapet Assessor for the Trust. Val also volunteers for Settusfree helping to rescue Setters from abroad.
Val is a Member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and has been successfully assessed to train under their Code of Practice. She is also a registered approved Trainer with the Animal Behaviour and Training Council.
Carol joined the Club as Treasurer in 2005 and shortly thereafter decided to study to become a trainer. She has now also qualified as an examiner under The Kennel Club to assess the Good Citizens Awards at all levels.
Carol’s passion is Labradors and she has owned labs all her life, her present lab, Fudge is a retired Therapet.
Susan is our Welcome Assistant who welcomes new members to the club on their first night. Susan joined the club in 2009 and became a Committee Member the following year. She has a flat coated retriever called Angus and a border collie, Fliss. In the past she has had experience in dog showing, agility and flyball with her dogs. Susan is also involved with Canine Partners as a volunteer speaker.
Mags joined the club in 2010 with her Labrador, Bart and helps at the club every week in various capacities. Bart is also a registered Therapet. Mags has her own business, Walks ‘n’ Wags with Mags offering first class dog walking services
We all regularly attend seminars and workshops for our continuing professional development accreditation.
We also have a dedicated committee of volunteers who regularly help at the Club and with our Events Schedule
